ValidHeart
Grief, Faith Deconstruction and Life Coaching

Coaching by Val Martens

Talking is a valid way to process your thoughts, your choices, your relationships and your hopes.

I am willing to listen and have a heart that cares.

Safe, confidential, non-judgemental listening with caring questions to help you find your options.

  • I can help your process your grief, whether it is loss of a loved one, losing a relationship, a job, or any other loss. Together we can discover how to heal and what is ahead.

  • I can help you if you are overwhelmed by doubts and confusion about your faith. We can talk about the pain and struggles you experience in your questioning journey as well as learning about who you are and how to heal and move forward in peace, whether you move forward to a stronger faith or deconstructing your faith. The decision will be yours.

  • We can be faced with overwhelming decisions in life. Sometimes we freeze and don't know what to do. I can help you talk through what choice is best for you.

  • I can help you talk through what is stopping you from taking the next step whether it is personal, business or relational. Let's talk.

  • I can help you talk through what needs to change to help you find the peace you are looking for.

Book an appointment with me and we can talk.

We will start with a free 30 minute session to see if we are a match and then you can book a single session or series of six sessions.

Courses will soon be available so you can learn at your pace and time.

I look forward to hearing your story and sharing your journey.

Val Martens, owner of ValidHeart, grief mentor and life coach, religious trauma mentor and ife coach

My Story

My name is Val and I have been listening to people for over 50 years. When people sit with me and share their stories I feel I have been given a precious gift.

I have learned the art of listening well and asking caring questions and been able to use this at a university in a role as Community Wellness Coordinator as well as mentoring and coaching  many students.

I am a wife of an elementary school teacher, a mom of three amazing adults, and a daughter of two wonderful parents. I have been a leader in a church for many years, run a successful face painting business for over a decade and enjoy creating and selling acrylic paintings. My work is available on www.validart.ca

I graduated with a Masters of Divinity and have since deconstructed my faith which has been a difficult yet rewarding experience. I have added to my education with many courses in grief recovery, religious trauma, mental health education and life coaching. I have dealt with many losses and am now helping be a caregiver for my mom whose health is failing.

I am not a therapist or counsellor, but believe that we can help each other in different ways. We can work together to decide if your needs require a therapist or if coaching will help you at this time.

One of my highest values is peace. I have been able to find peace, to understand what to do when that peace leaves me and to help others find peace. I would love to journey with you to help you find that place of peace.

Original art by Val Martens. www.validart.ca Orange flowers in front of peaceful blue sea and sky where the sun slowly rises.

Val made such a big impact in my first year of university by being a listener, mentor, and someone who can provide wise advice for me. I enjoy pouring my heart out to her. I found that my week wouldn't be complete without at least having to meet her once. I greatly appreciate her prayers, and just her loving and caring presence. Val is the best listener I've ever met. She challenges me to be better as a person as well. I thank Val for being the person to cry on and my go to person whenever I am happy or sad or upset. She is such an impact in this school and my experience
